The Central Quality Assurance Unit (CQAU) for the EQAPOL Program, under the direction of Dr. Sarzotti-Kelsoe, provides training, guidance, and monitors all aspects of Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) compliance. The CQAU provides GCLP compliance oversight to multiple aspects of the EQAPOL including assay performance at the oversight laboratories, data entry quality control, proficiency testing, send-out preparations, reagent and sample storage at the repository, and the preparation of HIV-1 stocks grown in human PBMCs for the Viral Diversity Program. The CQAU provides training, facilitates SOP development and performs audits on a routine basis to ensure that each EQAPOL Program is implemented and managed in a consistent and accurate manner. The CQAU reports directly to the EQAPOL Leadership Operations Team and provides input as to the compliance status of each program. Dr. Sarzotti-Kelsoe, in collaboration with Dr. Montefiori, is also responsible for the conduct of the A3R5 Assay Validation and Proficiency Testing Program.
